New Arizona Title Process Changes
Beginning April 22, The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) is scheduled to transition to a new computer system. The MVD is making it easier for you to receive titles and other important documents conveniently delivered to your home or office by United States Postal Service.
With this new transition, how will titles be processed?
Titles for IAA vehicles listed with “E-Title” will be held electronically and no longer printed automatically at IAA Phoenix or IAA Tucson branches. Although a physical title may not be given to you at time of payment, a purchase summary receipt and Bill of Sale (BOS) will printed.
For in-state buyers only
How do I receive my title(s)?
Arizona residents, you must take the Bill of Sale (BOS) to an Arizona MVD office and transfer the vehicle into your name. You will receive temporary ownership documents but the title will be mailed to you. There is a small fee for this.
How long will it take to receive my title(s)?
MVD is currently stating it will take 5-7 business days.
IAA currently mails my title(s). Will that continue?
No. IAA will no longer mail titles to Arizona residents (in-state buyers).
For out-of-state buyers only
IAA currently mails my title(s). Will I be affected by this?
No, this will not affect buyers located out of the state of Arizona who have instructed IAA to mail their titles; this will only affect buyers who request titles to be given to a representative at the time of pick-up.
Can I update my IAA sale document instruction to have my titles mailed?
Yes, these instructions can be found on IAAI.com – under the Sale Document Instructions link.
For all buyers
How will I know if the vehicle I want to purchase comes with an electronic title (E-Title)?
Look for the words E-Title in the Title/Sale Doc field on the Vehicle Details Page.
