Guest author John Mathiowetz, Vice President, Commercial Sales at IAA, spotlights remarketing news from industry and IAA sources.

Welcome to the December issue of IAA Client News – Remarketing Edition!

During these unprecedented times, customer communication has never been more important. Whether it’s delivering data on recent remarketing trends, or updates on what IAA is doing to help our remarketing customers, timely information can make all the difference.

There’s nothing Steve loves more than communicating with customers and talking about all the things IAA does to increase returns, decreasing cycling time and just making doing business easier. I’m going to do my best to do the same this month.

IAA does so much to help our remarketing partners. And all of those efforts are working, as we’re outperforming the market right now. That’s really good news for remarketers. IAA is always focused on helping you improve your bottom lines. In this newsletter we have examples of several initiatives designed to help you succeed, including the IAA Virtual Lane/MarketConnect partnership, IAA Rental Rides upping its game for our rental sellers, Used Car Week and National Remarketing Conference news, and Did You Know: Specialty. Let’s get to it!

IAA Partners with MarketConnect

IAA’s Virtual Lane Auction is partnering with MarketConnect from AiM, offering remarketers an entirely new option for selling  inventory with IAA. Virtual Lane kicked off with vehicles from Hyundai Capital, Kia Finance, Genesis Finance, and ARI Fleet in December, and will feature vehicles from many commercial sellers. Virtual Lane’s used inventory includes popular domestic and foreign brands all available via IAA Buy Now™, which allows buyers to immediately make a purchase at a set price.

Here’s what Eric Widmer, AiM Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, had to say about the news: “AiM is excited to partner with IAA by providing connectivity through our award-winning MarketConnect process to help build their upstream marketplace, Virtual Lane. The use of AiM's trusted third-party inspection reports combined with Virtual Lane's marketplace is a powerful and easy way to reach a broad group of really motivated buyers. This partnership will offer significant benefits to all consignors as Virtual Lane’s unique set of buyers will result in more views, increased bids, faster sales and higher values.”

IAA Rental Rides Raising the Game for Buyers & Sellers

I’m excited about what our Rental Rides Limited Auction has to offer our rental sellers and buyers. Rental Rides is a streamlined platform for selling rental vehicles from Avis Budget Group, Enterprise Holdings Inc., Hertz Corporation and others. It gives remarketers an efficient way to sell their Run & Drive and low-damage vehicles. Rental Rides is also an easy, convenient way for buyers to buy. The Rental Ride platform provides rental buyers with the specific inventory they are looking for all in one place. Bidders have a limited time to bid on vehicles and will know the exact minute a stock closes. The highest bidder wins the vehicle at closing time, if the high bid meets the reserve price. These vehicles are located across the country both at IAA branches and at offsite locations.

It’s Used Car Week (Month) Time Again

Used Car Week is a month-long event this year, and it will be a virtual event from mid-November through Dec. 18. IAA is a sponsor and our President & CEO, John Kett, will be presenting Auto Remarketing’s annual Remarketing & Used-Car Industry’s 40 Under 40 awards. John will honor this year’s winners during the National Remarketing Conference portion of Used Car Week December 14, 16 and 18.

During the conference two IAA leaders will be among those being honored by Auto Remarketing as part of its 2020 Remarketing & Used-Car Industry’s 40 Under 40Kristina Perez-Beahm, 35, Branch Manager – Avenel, New Jersey, and Rich Villalpando, 38, Area Manager – Southwest Region, were both selected as leaders who are making big differences in the industry and at IAA. We are thrilled to have two honorees for this distinction!

IAA’s own Amy Kadlec, Senior Director, Client Marketing, will participate in the Women in Remarketing panel on Monday, December 14. Amy was recently recognized by Auto Remarketing Magazine as part of the 2020 class of Women in Remarketing.

IAA and DDI Technology, an IAA company, are exhibitors during Used Car Week, so check out their virtual booths.

And I’ll participate in a panel discussion on Writing Remarketing’s Next Chapter—Auction Technologies & Trends (Part II) on December 18. Always interesting and insightful information from Used Car Week and the NRC.
